| This is familiar territory for me. I grew up in Eureka and always enjoy going back for a visit. |

Left home in
San Jose at about 9:30 packed up and ready 
 and I'm starting out |
Weather was nice and traffic was light north of Portola Road on I-280 |

San Francisco On 19th Avenue cresting Quintaro St in SF  First sighting of the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance |
North Vista Point is a must stop. It was crowded, but nice and
clear
 A sign says do not leave valuables in your car! I guess there is a theft problem.  Nonetheless, I did not see any tourists in the crowd carrying their suitcases and all their valuable stuff |
There was a bunch of motorcyclists on an organized outing Seemed to be mostly Triumphs and Harleys. Getting them posed for a group photo was like herding cats |
Next stop was
Cotati to visit
Sonoma County Harley-Davidson, 7601 Redwood Dr

Then on up to
Ukiah to gas up the bike and me too this fine feathered friend was waiting for his pal to come out I always wondered how they sell those "chicken" nuggets so cheap |
While in Ukiah, I took the opportunity to get some Mendocino

On the road, seemingly like forever Fortunately, once in a while, a nice rest stop 
 A few bikes out today. Kindred spirits |
The road does go on and on and on Eureka 137 miles  Eureka 88 miles  Eureka 35 miles, nearly there at last |

At last, into a motel room Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn, 3500 Broadway St About 5:30 or so. My reservations showed up on the computer as being booked for October. Fortunately, they did have a room |
The motel is adjacent to the Bayshore Mall Eureka is too small and too poor to support a large mall It is always ghost-town empty in spite of some large anchor stores: Walmart, Sears, Kohls |
We are about 3 blocks from the bay Sunset on the fishing wharf |
